Atrato Joins ng Connect Program to Drive New Storage Services for High Bandwidth, Data-Intensive Applications

Atrato has announced it has joined the ng Connect Program, a multi-industry initiative driving the development of next-generation broadband services based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) and other high bandwidth technologies. The company will collaborate with other ng Connect members to improve storage management and performance for a variety of data-intensive applications including virtual hosting, business analytics, entertainment services, and digital content distribution.

Atrato offers intelligent autonomic, tiered storage systems for high-end environments, utilizing a self-maintaining, self-optimizing architecture. Its products are used in a wide variety of industries including entertainment, security, content delivery, and Web 2.0 services as well as in high performance computing applications such as financial and business analytics, decision support systems, and web-facing e-commerce. Atrato's system design unlocks traditional input/output (I/O) bottlenecks that exist between storage and servers, providing immediate response to application performance requirements.

"The proliferation of 'everything on demand' commerce and content models is driving performance demands directly into the heart of IT systems. Today, companies require a high performance infrastructure that delivers end-to-end data access and availability," said Steve Visconti, CEO, Atrato. "Atrato meets this challenge by offering a new, intelligent way of storing and managing data. We're excited to join the ng Connect Program to leverage this innovative technology and to collaborate with other technology visionaries to advance next generation design."

As part of the ng Connect Program, Atrato's ground-breaking technology will be used to improve the performance, reliability, and scale of the broadband infrastructure. Its unique autonomic tiering architecture will provide accelerated access, high availability, and improved power efficiencies across a variety of applications and workloads. In addition, intelligent tiering software will be used to efficiently manage storage resources as companies grow to accommodate larger data volumes and higher performance demands.

"Highly scaleable, reliable, and flexible data access and storage is critical to the success of most new services being developed for next generation 4G/LTE networks," said Steve West, Vice President of Emerging Technology & Media at Alcatel-Lucent, founding member of the ng Connect Program. "Atrato's expertise is welcomed by our program members and we look forward to collaborating with them."
