Standard & Poor's Announces Changes to U.S. Indices

Rackspace Hosting will replace AmeriCredit in the S&P MidCap 400 after the close of trading on Thursday, September 30. AmeriCredit is being acquired by General Motors Holdings LLC in a deal expected to close on or about that date pending final approvals.

S&P SmallCap 600 constituent Watsco will replace Hewitt Associates in the S&P MidCap 400, and Super Micro Computer will replace Watsco in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on Friday, October 1. Hewitt Associates is being acquired by S&P 500 constituent Aon in a deal expected to close on or about that date pending final approvals.

Riverbed Technology will replace NBTY in the S&P MidCap 400 after the close of trading on a date to be announced. NBTY is being acquired by affiliates of The Carlyle Group in a deal expected to close soon, pending the completion of a marketing period.

Rackspace Hosting operates in the hosting and cloud computing industry. Headquartered in San Antonio, TX, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Internet Software & Services Sub-Industry index.  

Watsco distributes air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment and related parts and supplies. Headquartered in Coconut Grove, FL, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Trading Companies & Distributors Sub-Industry index.

Super Micro Computer designs, develops, manufactures, and sells server solutions. Headquartered in San Jose, CA, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Computer Hardware Sub-Industry index.  

Riverbed Technology provides solutions to the fundamental problems of wide-area distributed computing. Headquartered in San Francisco, CA, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Communications Equipment Sub-Industry index.
