Solarflare Doubles Market Share to Become the Fastest-Growing 10GbE Ethernet Adapter Vendor, According to Recent Report
Solarflare has announced that it more than doubled market share from 1.2 percent to 2.6 percent between January and June 2010 to become the fastest-growing 10GbE server adapter vendor in the market, according to the recently published Dell'Oro Network Adapter Report.* Due to this rapid growth, Solarflare has surpassed the market share of Neterion and is catching up with the market share of Mellanox. The market itself grew to $57.5M by the end of Q2, a 100 percent growth over Q2 2009.
"We started marketing adapters directly to customers in December and January, and released our SFN5122F dual-port SFP+ 10GbE adapter to customers in March. We saw rapid success in high-frequency trading accounts in the major financial centers in Chicago, Frankfurt, London, New York and Paris," said Russell Stern, CEO at Solarflare Communications. "Due to the SFN5122F's compelling performance and very low latency with our OpenOnload Application Acceleration Middleware, we are now the number one recommended 10GbE adapter on Wall Street. We also recently announced the expansion of our product portfolio of 10GbE server adapters, as well as global reseller programs. We are building the product set and the customer reach to replicate our success and rapid growth into the high-performance computing (HPC), cloud and virtualization segments."
The SFN5122F is the industry's lowest-power 10GbE SFP+ server adapter. Featuring hardware-assisted support for virtualization, the SFN5122F delivers up to 5 times the application performance of other server adapters by accelerating virtual I/O for Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper V and VMware. The SFN5122F also possesses the industry's most scalable virtualization architecture, supporting up to 256 virtual functions and up to 2048 virtual NICs, 16 times greater scalability than conventional approaches.
Solarflare 10GbE network adapters, often in combination with Solarflare's OpenOnload middleware, enable companies in a wide range of industries to build HPC clusters and data centers that meet the most demanding computing and networking challenges. Solarflare's solutions enable high-frequency trading, high-performance computing for select verticals, such as scientific computing, oil, and gas, and manufacturing, as well as server virtualization for cloud networking.
To date, Solarflare has shipped the SFN5122F 10GbE dual-port SFP+ adapter to over 100 customers and 150 locations in China, Europe, US, India, Hong Kong and Singapore. The SFN5122F, with its OpenOnload application acceleration middleware, is also installed in every major equities exchange worldwide.
