6WIND has announced a strategic agreement to provide 6WINDGate packet processing software across Advantech’s Packetarium product line, giving network equipment manufacturers an integrated hardware software platform that can provide over 80 Gbps system throughput in multiple form factors for both standard and customized platforms.

With performance-hungry applications generating increased processing overhead on every data packet, network traffic in high bandwidth telecommunications systems is growing exponentially. As a result of the complex software and hardware integrations required to meet packet processing requirements at 80 Gbps, network equipment manufacturers are experiencing longer product development cycles with higher levels of delivery risk.

6WIND is integrating its 6WINDGate packet processing software with Advantech’s Packetarium boards to provide a flexible platform level solution that delivers a 10x performance improvement, allowing faster packet handling and forwarding while freeing up overhead for increased processing at the application layer. The combined solution allows equipment manufacturers to develop products that achieve the best cost-performance, integration and energy efficiency in the industry.
