The 2010 International Supercomputing Conference (ISC’10) concluded its 25th meeting with the largest attendance ever – 1,998 registered participants – and the exhibition, with 151 of the world's leading supercomputing vendors and research organization showcasing their ideas.

“When I started this meeting as a small workshop in Mannheim back in 1986, I really had no idea that it would become such an important international meeting place for ideas and innovation,” said ISC General Chair Prof. Hans Meuer. “Just five or six years ago we were hoping to someday attract 500 attendees, and now we are at almost 2,000. Best of all, the increase in attendance has also brought an increase in the energy and enthusiasm of the program.”

For those who were unable to attend ISC’10, daily video blogs were created featuring two computer scientists – John Shalf from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Heike Jagode from the University of Tennessee. Watch their daily observations and conversations.

What’s Next? ISC Events Takes to the Clouds
Building on 25 years of success, ISC Events will host ISC Cloud ’10, a two-day meeting devoted to cloud computing. The meeting will be held October 28 – 29 at the Marriott Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany. In addition to an exhibition, the meeting program will cover topics such as private, public and hybrid models for cloud computing, trust issues in the clouds, scientific cloud computing and migrating large data sets onto a cloud. Looking Ahead to Next Year: ISC’11 June 19 – 23 in Hamburg

It’s still early, but ISC’11 is already taking shape – all of the sponsorships have been secured and three-fourths of the exhibition space has been reserved. In 2011, ISC will be held June 19 – 23 in Hamburg. More information can be found on the ISC’11 website.
