Curtiss-Wright Controls Adds 10 GigE Support to Dual Core i7 CHAMP-AV5 DSP Engine

Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing (CWCEC) has announced the addition of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GigE) support on its dual Intel Core i7 CHAMP-AV5 digital signal processing (DSP) 6U VME board via Critical I/O's 10 Gigabit Ethernet XGE XMC card. Support for Critical I/O's high bandwidth network mezzanine card simplifies the integration of 10 GigE into embedded DSP subsystems designed for demanding military signal processing applications.

"10 Gigabit Ethernet is becoming increasingly popular with our rugged deployed customers for network centric military platforms, especially for sensor interface applications where the data acquisition system is located at some distance from the processor," said Lynn Bamford, vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. "Critical I/O's XGE 10GbE XMC card enables system integrators to add 10 GigE networks quickly and easily into their CHAMP AV5-based DSP subsystems."

"Critical I/O is pleased to partner with Curtiss-Wright by supporting the Critical I/O XGE 10GigE interface on their high performance, dual Core i7 DSP product," said Jack Staub, President of Critical I/O. "10 Gigabit Ethernet, is an ideal interface technology for next generation military systems because it is part of the broad-based Ethernet standard, which insures a long life and compatibility with future systems -- all at minimum life-cycle cost and also because 10 GigE offers very high performance, which is essential for connecting high performance computing systems to various sensors and other subsystems."
