Terrascale Technologies Introduces InfiniBand Storage Blocks

Terrascale Technologies, developers of next generation data serving solutions for enterprise-class cluster and grid applications, today announced the launch of an innovative new product, Terrascale Storage Blocks. Storage Blocks are fault tolerant configurations of three, five or nine Storage Bricks with a unique data protection algorithm that provides for continuous data access in the event of system or component failure. Under such circumstances, a dedicated “hot standby” Storage Brick automatically reconstructs data. From the user’s perspective, functionality is uninterrupted and integrity is guaranteed. Each Storage Brick is a data server loaded with Terrascale’s revolutionary TerraGrid software. With input/output (I/O) rates in excess of 10 Gigabytes per second, Storage Bricks are the fastest clustered storage solution on the market today. Both Storage Blocks and Storage Bricks support Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand network fabrics. “Terrascale Storage Blocks are providing a unique data serving solution to our enterprise customers,” said Gautham Sastri, President and CEO, Terrascale Technologies. “Along with the official launch of Storage Blocks, we are pleased to announce that the product has already been successfully deployed in several extremely demanding environments, including one of the world’s largest oil companies and a leading genome research institute,” Mr. Sastri added. “Wide scale deployment of InfiniBand-based server clusters has driven the immediate need for native InfiniBand enterprise-class storage solutions,” said Thad Omura, Vice President, Product Marketing, Mellanox Technologies. “By leveraging the InfiniBand standard, Terrascale’s Storage Blocks and Storage Bricks deliver exceptional performance and levels of redundancy. With this latest product, Terrascale continues to be a leading technology innovator in cluster and grid applications,” Mr. Omura added.
