Cognos today announced that it has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the sixth consecutive year. Cognos is the only independent Business Intelligence vendor named to this year's list. The 2006 index consists of 317 companies representing the top 10 per cent of the leading sustainability companies in 60 industry groups across 34 countries. These companies are selected from the largest 2,500 companies in the Dow Jones Global Indexes. "As a result of its strong capabilities in embracing corporate sustainability from strategy, implementation, to monitoring and reporting, Cognos sets the software industry's benchmark. Both in economic and in social dimensions, Cognos is clearly positioned among the best in the industry," the DJSI report states. "Its strong economic performance is illustrated by its achievement to set the industry's best practice in customer relationship management. Cognos' superior social performance is demonstrated by its out performance in talent attraction, global sourcing and stakeholder engagement." DJSI World describes leading sustainability companies as displaying high levels of competence in addressing global and industry challenges in a variety of areas including strategy, financial, customer and product, corporate governance and stakeholder engagement, and human resource management.
