Terrascale Technologies, developers of next generation data serving solutions for enterprise-class cluster and grid applications, today announced the interoperability of its TerraGrid software with select HP hardware. TerraGrid is the "glue" that binds together servers, networks and storage, enabling linearly scalable performance. Historically, designers of large scale computer networks have confronted the issue of access in one of two ways: Sharing data across networks via network attached storage (NAS) protocols - at the expense of processing speed, or via segmented storage area networks (SANs) - at the expense of data sharing efficiency. TerraGrid eliminates this dilemma by providing previously unattainable processing performance with uncompromised access to data. Terrascale has qualified TerraGrid software deployments on HP ProLiant servers, HP Cluster Platforms and HP StorageWorks storage arrays to provide a distributed storage cluster infrastructure. Initial performance testing conducted by HP concluded that TerraGrid's primary benefits include high- performance connections to storage and a single shared common file system to which hundreds of compute nodes may be directly connected.
