RAID Announces Fastest SATA-2 Based Storage

RAID Inc. announced the industry's highest performing line of SATA-2 based storage solutions. The Falcon II is the latest addition to RAID's Falcon series of SATA storage systems. The Falcon II features a robust architecture that combines affordable, high-capacity SATA-2 drive technology with 2Gb Fibre-Channel or Ultra-320 SCSI host interface options. RAID's Falcon II utilizes the latest advances in SATA-2 disk technology including NCQ (Native Command Queuing). The Falcon II solution is designed for applications requiring extremely high performance in non-mission-critical applications. The system is ideal for a large set of applications that previously required more expensive Fibre-Channel or SCSI disk technologies. The performance is unprecedented with sustained throughput of over 380mbs/sec on writes and 400mbs/sec on reads. The extreme performance is based on new architecture which incorporates a 266 MHz ASIC, integrated dual PCI-X bus design and support for double data rate (DDR) memory which provides internal bandwidth up to 2GB/sec, making it ideal for high-throughput applications. "The Falcon II addresses the requirement for extremely high-performance and affordable storage," stated RAID CEO Greg Morris. "This introduction allows us to further penetrate more markets by providing a solution that is backed by our un-paralleled service and support offerings. It is essentially a solution that provides our customers Tier 1 storage performance at Tier 2 price points."
