WICHITA, Kan. -- LSI Logic Storage Systems, Inc., a technology leader in high performance, highly scalable storage for the open enterprise, has been selected as one of four organizations to receive the Kansas Excellence Award on November 7, at the Kansas Award for Excellence banquet, along with two Best in Category Awards. The Kansas Excellence Award is the highest level of recognition for quality being bestowed at the banquet. The award is presented to organizations that have demonstrated through their practices and achievements the highest and most consistent level of business excellence. Companies recognized at this level are considered role models for other Kansas businesses. LSI Logic Storage Systems will also receive two Best in Category Awards for Strategic Planning and Human Resource Focus. The Strategic Planning category examines how organizations develop strategic objectives and action plans, and how they are deployed and how progress is measured. The Human Resource Focus Category concentrates on how organizations motivate and enable employees to develop and utilize full potential in alignment with the organization's overall objectives and action plans. The Kansas Award for Excellence program annually recognizes companies from across the state that have utilized the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Criteria for Performance Excellence. For more than 15 years, thousands of U.S. organizations have used the Baldrige Criteria to stimulate improvements in their competitiveness and business performance that lead to global success. In Kansas, the award program is operated by a non-profit organization, the Kansas Award for Excellence Foundation. The Foundation is the Kansas affiliate of the Baldrige Program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. LSI Logic Storage Systems joins more than 176 Kansas organizations that have been recognized by the Kansas Award for Excellence Foundation for their commitment to and application of the Baldrige Criteria in Kansas.
