PALO ALTO, CA -- HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced the appointment of former Compaq Computer Corp. executive and long-time industry veteran Robert (Bob) Schultz as vice president of the HP Network Storage Solutions marketing and solutions team. Schultz is widely recognized as one of the visionaries in defining and developing what is now HP's Enterprise Network Storage Architecture (ENSA). "HP is well known for its innovation and ability to lead in the marketplace. I have known Bob for many years, and having worked with him, I've seen his leadership abilities first hand. Bob brings to our team a wealth of storage experience, excellent strategic skills, and tremendous marketing and business management," said Howard Elias, senior vice president and general manger, HP Network Storage Solutions. "We expect Bob, as one of the founders of our long-time storage strategy, to be a key player in helping HP continue its momentum as the leader in the storage industry." Schultz joins HP from Adaptec, where he was chief operating officer since August 1999. He successfully established the company as a leader in iSCSI storage networking. He also led the acquisition of Platys Technology to obtain TCP offload and ASIC technology to complement Adaptec's software and gain a time-to-market advantage. Prior to joining Adaptec, Schultz spent nearly a decade with Compaq as a key player in its storage and server organizations. As vice president of the server storage group within Compaq's Storage Products Division he played a pivotal role in driving Compaq's leadership position in the emerging SAN market by developing and launching a new Fibre Channel storage array as well as helping define the company's overall storage direction. Prior to Compaq, Schultz spent 11 years at AT&T in product planning positions. He holds an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management, where he graduated with distinction. He also received a master's degree in computer science from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in general engineering from the University of Illinois. Schultz will continue to reside in northern California.
