HP Unveils New StorageWorks Products

PALO ALTO, CA -- Two months after the close of the largest technology company merger in US history, HP (NYSE:HPQ) demonstrated the powerful combination of the new company by unveiling its first new post-merger StorageWorks products and solutions. The StorageWorks solutions, which include storage area network (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) and tape solutions, serve as proof-points that HP is extending the value of open, modular networked storage solutions to its customers. Today's Network Storage Solutions (NSS) announcement complements the ongoing HP Enterprise Network Storage Architecture (ENSA) initiative. Since its origination, ENSA has promised customers increased business continuance and streamlined operations. These new products and upgrades support ENSA's pledge by allowing for access to information "anytime, anywhere," in order to streamline business operations, accelerate time-to-market, and scale the storage environment to meet growth demands. This announcement follows a detailed product plan presented to customers immediately following the merger. The Most Complete Solutions HP StorageWorks products are designed to help customers manage explosive growth of business-critical data by stretching capacity, multiplying storage management productivity and reducing application downtime. HP OpenView storage software and HP Storage Services further simplify administration of storage assets, reduce IT overhead costs and empower customers to manage their information more efficiently. "The HP StorageWorks architecture streamlines every aspect of our multi-platform computing environment, greatly reducing our total cost of ownership," said Craig Gleason, UNIX system administrator of Tektronix. Greater Customer Choice HP StorageWorks combined product lines increase customer versatility and choice.
