Autodesk Reports Second Quarter Earnings

SAN RAFAEL, CA -- Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK) today announced financial results for its second quarter ended July 31, 2001. Autodesk reported net revenues of $231 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2002 compared to $233 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2001. On a pro forma basis, as defined below, second quarter net income was $30 million or $0.53 per diluted share compared to $25 million or $0.43 per diluted share for the same quarter a year ago. Second quarter net income was $19 million or $0.34 per diluted share and was impacted by nonrecurring charges of $10 million, which was primarily related to facility consolidations in the United States. This compares to net income for the same quarter a year ago of $21 million or $0.35 per diluted share. "Our customer relationships have never been stronger. The more we talk about how to leverage digital design data into greater productivity and efficiency, the more interest there is in our solutions," said Carol Bartz, Autodesk chairman and chief executive officer. "Customers believe in our vision and strategy. This, combined with our strongest product line ever, may very well offset the current uncertain macroeconomic conditions."
