Nexenta Announces Keynotes, Sponsors, and Agenda for Its First Annual OpenStorage Summit

Nexenta Systems has announced keynotes, sponsors and the final agenda for its first annual OpenStorage Summit. The summit will be the premiere educational event focusing on the transformation of the storage industry from proprietary, high cost technologies to cost-effective, standards-based solutions. It will be held on October 26-27, 2010, at the Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto, Calif. Area Data Systems, High-Availability.Com Limited ("HAC"), and Aberdeen LLC. are among the industry leaders sponsoring the conference, which unites OpenStorage customers and developers with technology experts committed to building low-cost, high performance storage solutions to solve the most complex storage issues.

Keynotes and Programming

Terri McClure from Enterprise Strategy Group will kick off the opening day of the Summit on October 26, with a keynote address on OpenStorage. On October 27, Bill Moore, one of the leaders of the original Sun Microsystems design team that created ZFS, will address attendees with the keynote. Other presenters include Illumos creator and Nexenta Systems Senior Engineer Garrett D'Amore, and DTrace Co-Author and former Solaris Kernel Engineer Adam Leventhal.

Sessions will include vendor-neutral case studies, panel discussions, and best practices for evaluating and deploying innovative storage systems, led by speakers who represent the diversity and pioneering spirit of the thriving OpenStorage community. The first day’s presentations will focus on storage performance, including the latest trends and breakthroughs in solid-state disk (SSD) technology, as well as server and desktop virtualization infrastructure. The agenda for the second day concentrates on enterprise storage solutions such as large scale and cloud deployments.

NexentaStor Training

A concurrent, two-day NexentaStor training will be held on October 25 and 26, providing in-depth information on the Zetta File System (ZFS), including advanced features such as de-duplication, and its use in the NexentaStor product. Attendees who successfully complete the full two-day technical training course will receive accreditation as a Certified NexentaStor Engineer (CNE), the last opportunity in 2010 for attendees to earn this accreditation.

The second day of training will overlap with the summit, allowing summit registrants to attend some of the training presentations. The training will be led by Nexenta Systems Senior Director of Solutions Engineering Richard Elling and Field Engineering Director Darryl Clark.

Other highlights of the OpenStorage Summit include:

  • A solutions showcase demonstrating vendor integration of the latest storage technologies creating innovative solutions for end users, featuring Summit Gold Sponsors.
  • A performance showcase focused on getting maximum performance out of your OpenStorage system including solid-state disks, virtual desktops, and more.
