Verari announces first storage blades with Intel SSDs

Company integrates high-performance drives across existing product lines to improve overall power efficiency with blade-based storage and server products: Verari Systems today announced the addition of Intel’s X-25M SATA solid state drives (SSDs) into its BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms. Solid state drives utilize flash memory to store and retrieve data, yielding response times that are an order of magnitude faster than the fastest hard disk drives and require dramatically less power and cooling to operate. By becoming the first in the industry to offer Intel SSDs in storage blades, Verari is providing its customers with the highest density storage system available on the market today which requires dramatically less power and cooling to operate. “Verari’s incorporation of Intel’s SSDs into our compute and storage arrays gives our customers with extreme performance and reliability needs a huge performance and competitive advantage,” said David Driggers, chief technology officer, Verari Systems. “By handling the same server workload in less space with less cooling requirements and lower power consumption, Verari is helping tackle performance challenges that no other solution can match.” Intel’s X-25M SSDs, which have been tested by Verari Systems for the past year, achieve ultra-high read/write and bandwidth performance along with high reliability and data integrity for the intense workloads of high-end enterprise computing and storage applications. Combining Intel’s SSDs with its high density, 12TB SB1056 SATA II Disk Blades, Verari is further improving storage density while enhancing energy efficiency. The Verari BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms, with support for compute, graphics, server and workstation virtualization and storage offers the broadest range of options to enable the consolidation of all application tiers within a single system framework with the best performance, densest footprint and energy efficiency available in the industry today. Verari’s blade-based storage solutions with Intel’s SSDs are ideally suited to support applications that need to process massive amounts of information very quickly including IPTV video streaming, electronic trading systems, real-time data feed processing, cloud computing and storage metadata processing, and many others. With rising demand for high-performance servers and storage in numerous market sectors including ISP/ASP, entertainment and financial services, Verari works closely with its customers to help develop “Green Data Centers” that deliver more energy-efficient processing performance and storage capacity. The Intel X-25M SSDs are immediately available in select BladeRack 2 X-Series blade and rackmount solutions. General availability in Verari’s storage products is expected in Q4 2008.
