Verari Systems announces blade-based hybrid server & storage

SB5255 DataServer combines high performance processing with ultra-high density storage at half the cost of alternative solutions: Verari Systems, developer of platform-independent blade-based computing and storage solutions, today announced the industry's first blade-based hybrid server and storage system. The SB5255 DataServer combines two Intel 5300 series dual-socket, quad-core processors with the highest storage density available in a blade server. The combination of blade-based high capacity and low-cost storage with a high performance blade server is a powerful enabler for a wide range of vertical markets where data and applications such as Web 2.0 need to be hosted on a single platform. A single Verari Systems BladeRack 2 platform can house up to 22 SB5255 DataServers, delivering over half of a petabyte of storage and 176 processor cores in just two data center floor tiles.
