EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch Delivers Breakthrough Performance, Scalability, and Lowest Power Consumption at 1/5 the Price of Alternative Switch Solutions: Woven Systems today announced that it will be demonstrating its flagship product -- the EFX 1000, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) Fabric Switch -- at Interop 2007 Las Vegas: IT Conference and Exposition (booth 2449). The EFX 1000 switch, based on Woven's patented vSCALE technology, delivers highly scalable 10 GE performance for server clustering and storage applications at 1/5 the price point of alternative switch offerings. During the Interop show, Woven Systems will demonstrate how its vSCALE technology with Active Congestion Management dynamically detects congestion and re-balances traffic across less congested paths, running on a multi-node server cluster. Each line card in the EFX 1000 includes vSCALE packet processing ASICs that route traffic across a multi-stage Ethernet fabric and measure traffic latency on all paths through the fabric. If a path is overloaded, traffic is automatically re-routed to an alternate path without dropping or re-ordering packets, delivering low latency performance that rivals Fibre Channel and InfiniBand switches. "The EFX 1000 is ideally suited for latency sensitive applications like storage, multimedia, and high performance computing," said Dan Maltbie, Woven co-founder and Chief Product Officer. "Using Woven's low latency 10 GE switching, network operators can be assured of high performance and availability across the fabric while avoiding the issues associated with using high latency switching from other vendors." The EFX 1000 gives IT personnel the ability to work with familiar, standards-based Ethernet technology, eliminating the need for specialized expertise, re-building existing applications, or complex re-routing and re-configuration. The switch is rack mountable and features plug-and-play installation and management. It is also easily expandable, from one chassis supporting up to 144 ports, to as many as 4,000 non-blocking 10 GE ports in a single fabric, while maintaining external latency at or below 4 microseconds. The Interop - Las Vegas IT Conference and Exposition takes place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center from May 20-25, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Woven Systems will feature its EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch at Booth 2449 in the convention center.
