Sr. Security Systems Admin
The AMTI contract at NASA Ames Research Center is seeking an experienced system administrator with software engineering background to become a member of Information Security group at NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) division of NASA Ames, where we support one of the world’s largest supercomputers. This position is in a fast-paced, ever-challenging scientific computing environment. The team is responsible for monitoring, managing and protecting resources, reputation and productivity. The tools are traditional routers, firewalls, audits, access-control, authentication, intrusion detection and prevention. Operating systems are Unix and Linux-based and range from cluster-based supercomputing, application servers (e.g. Mail, DNS), to desktop/laptops. Job Duties: Assignments include porting/writing near-real time and post-processing utilities related to syslog, intrusion detection, evasion/protection, alert & trap events reported by various subsystems (IDS, IPS, SYSLOG, SNMP, RADIUS/SecurID authentication, honeynet, and firewall router). Additional responsibilities for software support include custom or locally developed bastion hosts, firewalls, password management, system monitoring and system audit trail report data. Qualifications: This position requires significant project management skills, life-cycle software-engineering discipline including documentation and technical writing, applied programming in C and shell, Perl, tcl/tk, java, python or other interpreted languages. Infineon switched storage fabric, database and SQL experience desired. Understanding of principles of filesystem resource management including RAID, NFS, CXFS and DMF. Experience with PBS - Portable Batch System (or similar), grid computing (Globus) also desired. CISSP certification highly desired. Working knowledge and familiarity with the following basic network technology is required: ARP, IP/TCP/UDP/MCAST/BCAST, BGP, BOOTP, DHCP, TFTP, HTTP/S, RADIUS, OTP (RSA SecurID), SSH, SSL, NAT, firewall HLL (iptables, ipf, ipfw, Cisco IOS), 802.x WiFi, GbE, Fiber Channel, Infineon. Education/Experience: Bachelor (CS) degree or equivalent experience plus 8 years field experience with indicated technologies. US Citizenship is required.
