ONStor certifies Texas Memory Systems’ RamSan-400 solid state disk

Texas Memory Systems today announced that its 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel RamSan-400 solid state disk has been certified for use with ONStor’s 2280 NAS gateways, providing customers with a very high speed system for accelerating enterprise applications like OLTP databases, batch processes, data warehouses, modeling and video editing. Applications accelerated by solid state disks can support more concurrent users, more simultaneous transactions and demand less technical support. Texas Memory Systems’ solid state disks are used worldwide by stock exchanges, financial trading firms, e-commerce sites, telecommunications companies and government agencies. They are typically used alongside hard disk-based RAID storage and other components as part of a multi-vendor storage network. ONStor NAS Gateways deliver shared file storage to Windows, UNIX, Linux, and Mac clients and servers on a local area network. The Texas Memory Systems RamSan-400 solid state disk is the industry’s first solid state disk with 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel interfaces capable of sustaining 3-Gigabytes per second of random data transfers. The RamSan-400 high-availability architecture includes IBM Chipkill -based technology, redundant and hot swappable power supplies, redundant batteries, a four disk RAID with hot swappable backup hard disk drives and Texas Memory Systems' unique Active Backup feature. The ONStor Bobcat 2280 NAS Gateway offers a high-performance file data streaming engine that delivers accelerated performance for content-rich application environments. Its purpose-built hardware platform employs 64-bit network processors to deliver a data throughput of 300MB per second. “ONStor is committed to providing solutions that consolidate enterprise file services on open SAN storage. Our relationship with Texas Memory Systems is a great example of this, demonstrating that the open sharing of technology creates interoperability and ease-of-use that ultimately benefits our mutual customers,” said Jon Toor, vice president of marketing at ONStor. “The combination of our Bobcat NAS Gateways and Texas Memory Systems’ cutting edge technology expands the opportunities for both companies by delivering a scalable, cost-effective NAS solution that addresses a wider range of enterprise customers.”
