Texas Memory Systems, Introduces FAST Certification for SANs
Texas Memory Systems today introduced its new Fast Access Storage Tested (FAST) program to help IT managers and database administrators configure high performance storage networks that can accelerate I/O-intensive databases, OLTP (online transaction processing), OLAP (online analytical processing), modeling, content streaming and high volume data acquisition environments. Select 4-gigabit host bus adapter and switches by ATTO, Brocade, Emulex and QLogic were tested and certified “FAST” by Texas Memory Systems under the program. All FAST certified products passed Texas Memory Systems interoperability tests and demonstrated performance or features critical to Texas Memory Systems' solid state disk customers. Enterprise software applications support more concurrent users, handle higher volumes of simultaneous transactions and experience fewer technical problems when running on high performance solid state storage systems. The fastest systems available today are based on 4-gigabit solid state disks. Solid state disks running with 4-gigabit interfaces can deliver data up to 800-megabyte per second per channel. The fastest Texas Memory Systems RamSan system can currently sustain close to 3-gigabytes per second across eight ports. Texas Memory Systems’ RamSan 4-gigabit solid state disks are used by stock exchanges, financial trading firms, e-commerce sites, telecommunications companies and other fast growing companies. “Texas Memory Systems introduced the FAST program because IT managers and database administrators want a complete solution that allows them to boost the performance of their software,” said Woody Hutsell, Executive Vice President of Texas Memory Systems. “By pre-testing and certifying interrelated components for interoperability and performance, IT managers can configure complete solutions that are better, faster and more reliable without the risks and delays of a trial and error process. “Global 2000 corporations with I/O intensive applications such as server virtualization are deploying Texas Memory Systems RamSan solid state disk,” said Frank Berry, vice president of corporate marketing, QLogic Corporation. “The Texas Memory Systems FAST certification of QLogic 4Gb products provides customers with a high-performance I/O infrastructure that extends end-to-end from server to storage. FAST certified 4-gigabit host bus adapters include the ATTO Celerity FC-42XS, Emulex LP11000 and LP11002 and QLogic QLA2460 and QLA2462. FAST certified 4-gigabit switches include the Brocade Silkworm 4100 Switches and QLogic SANbox 5600. A list of FAST certified products is maintained at its Web site. FAST certified products are available now from Texas Memory Systems.
