Scali Partners with Cluster File Systems
Scali, the leader in commercial software for scaling the Linux Datacenter, today announced a reseller relationship with Cluster File Systems, Inc. (CFS), whereby Scali will resell, install and support CFS's Lustre file system technology for customers worldwide. Additionally, Scali announced support for CFS's Lustre file system within the 4.4 release of its leading cluster management environment, Scali Manage. The trend towards clustered computing processors, busses, and interconnects is creating a performance bottleneck in data flow to and from the compute clusters. The Lustre parallel file system architecture, combined with high-performance computing clusters, delivers almost unlimited data throughput and allows for maximum utilization of computing resources. "Many customers are seeing compute clusters as an attractive option for running data intensive applications," said Bjorn Skare, CEO of Scali. "This increases their need for scalable, high performance storage solutions to hold and serve this data. The agreement with CFS means we can offer customers both compute and storage cluster solutions that will improve their datacenter productivity." The Lustre file system is designed to serve clusters with up to tens of thousands of nodes, manage petabytes of storage and move hundreds of gigabytes per second with state of the art security and management infrastructure. "Lustre users see the tremendous performance advantages Lustre brings and view scalable, secure, performant I/O as a critical component of their computing strategies," said Phil Schwan, CEO of Cluster File Systems. "We see this partnership as a great way to leverage Scali's cluster expertise to further the adoption of the Lustre File System".
