Verari Systems Upgrades Octet 8-Way AMD Opteron-Based Server
Verari Systems, the premier developer of powerful, platform-independent computer systems, announced today a major product upgrade to the Octet 8-Way AMD Opteron processor-based server. The upgrade allows for the Verari Systems Octet to now utilize 128GB of RAM, double the amount previously announced by Verari Systems back in November of 2004 at the Supercomputing 2004 tradeshow. The Verari Systems Octet 8-Way's design unleashes the full potential of AMD64 technology with Direct Connect Architecture, delivering significant multi-processor capabilities to the x86 application base in a 5U rack-optimized form factor. The server supports eight AMD Opteron 850 Series processors, 128GB of memory, and 4-port Gigabit Ethernet with future plans for Dual-Core processor upgradeability. The AMD Opteron processor has built-in HyperTransport technology that provides up to 6.4GBs of scalable bandwidth interconnect between processors, memory, I/O subsystems, as well as other chipsets. The Verari Systems Octet server offers optimized memory performance, increased multiprocessing capability, program support for large memory models, and lower I/O latency. "In addition to eight blazingly fast CPUs, the Octet's 128GB RAM capacity is especially compelling for applications requiring large memory such as Electronic Design Automation," said David Driggers, CEO of Verari Systems. "This major product upgrade reaffirms and validates Verari Systems' commitment to provide the highest value, highest performance products."
