Fujitsu Transfers BioSciences Group to Provide Enhanced Service
Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited, announced the transfer of the BioSciences Group, a worldwide leader in providing innovative and reliable solutions to experimental scientists, from Fujitsu America, Inc. to Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation. "We are very pleased to have The BioSciences Group join Fujitsu Computer Systems," said Toshio Morohoshi, president & CEO, Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation. "We see this transfer as the ideal integration of expertise and services. The BioSciences Group gains expertise in enterprise-scale solutions, and provides life sciences-specific technologies and services in order to introduce Fujitsu offerings in the North American life sciences market." Takahiro Tsunekawa, vice president of The BioIT Solutions Group, said, "The transfer of the BioSciences Group to Fujitsu Computer Systems will result in even stronger responsiveness and service for our customers in North America who will benefit from improved integration of support and logistics." The BioSciences Group offerings for drug discovery range from hardware to software and services designed to enable researchers to make in silico predictions about leads, targets and interactions -- and to validate these hypotheses experimentally. The BioSciences Group's products and services include BioServer, a massively parallel server designed specifically for life sciences applications, which complements the existing Fujitsu portfolio of products and services, including the recently-announced PRIMEQUEST server line. The BioSciences group also brings the award-winning CAChe(R) and BioMedCAChe desktop molecular modeling software suites, and the "Large- scale in situ Hybridization" (LisH) service for creating massive gene expression image databases.
