Infortrend Releases New EonStor G6 Subsystems to Complete Its 4G Fibre Channel (FC) Series

4U 4G FC-to-SAS/SATA Subsystems Offer Additional Form Factor Choices While Delivering Enhanced Performance and Scalability

Infortrend today announced the addition of two 4G FC-to-SAS/SATA storage subsystems, the S24F-R1440 and S24F-G1440, to its EonStor G6 family. Powered by Infortrend’s advanced ASIC667 (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) technology, the new 4U form factors deliver increased performance and broaden the range of product options available from Infortrend’s 4G Fibre Channel series.

With the addition of the 4G Fibre Channel solutions to the EonStor G6 product line, Infortrend continues to underscore its commitment to providing products to meet the needs of customers with diverse requirements for high quality storage systems by designing the 4U models to feature 4G FC connectivity and SAS drive support on the architecture, powered by its next-generation RAID engine. The new 24-drive EonStor G6 S24F-R/G1440 delivers 80% better performance than the EonStor A24F-R2430 and A24F-G2430,”and subsystem performance to address the demands of today’s expanding data center environments. Featuring extensive scalability, a single S24F subsystem can be scaled up to 104-drive installation through expansion enclosures. The massively scalable capacity ensures enterprises the ability to flexibly expand their storage as their data continues to increase along with corporate growth. As with all EonStor G6 products, the S24F model can be administered, configured and monitored locally or remotely via SANWatch, Java-based storage management software developed to support simultaneous script-based configuration of multiple subsystems.

In addition to enhanced performance and scalability, the S24F also offers users the benefits of high availability combined with a green IT hardware design included as a standard feature on all EonStor G6 models. To safeguard cached data during power outages, Infortrend’s innovative CacheSafe technology is also integrated into the new products. When encountering a power failure, the ‘Cache Backup Module (CBM)' will write all cached data to the flash backup module (FBM) for permanent retention, which eliminates the common 72-hour battery power limitation that can cause data loss. Based on a High Availability (HA) modular design, all redundant modules including controllers, power supplies and cooling fans are hot-swappable to achieve high fault-tolerance capability. By designing the systems with intelligent drive spin-down and dynamic cooling mechanisms, Infortrend continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to Green IT, enabling companies to reduce their carbon footprint and lower operating costs, while helping to contribute to environmental sustainability.
