Naval Air Systems Command Standardizes on the MathWorks Software

NATICK, Mass. -- The MathWorks today announced that the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has standardized on the Company's family of products for data analysis, visualization, modeling, and simulation, enabling all NAVAIR engineers to access The MathWorks tools. The leader in naval aviation technology, NAVAIR is utilizing The MathWorks flagship software, MATLAB(R) and Simulink(R) as its core technical computing platform for flight test data analysis, research, development, and test and evaluation projects in all engineering disciplines. NAVAIR anticipates that by deploying MATLAB and Simulink as its core common software, its engineers can share research easily, cut significant time from its data analysis processes, and better meet the technology needs of the naval fleet. "We were looking to provide our engineers with enterprise-wide data analysis capabilities as well as a flexible technology base that will enable them to communicate their research among industry, other government labs, and the fleet," said Stephen Cricchi, deputy director, Test and Evaluation Engineering Department, NAVAIR. "The MathWorks products provide the versatility and strength required to develop complex applications without limiting our engineers to one field of research." Through its worldwide network of technology experts, NAVAIR develops advanced aviation systems, from flight controls to precision targeting and real-time communications. By implementing The MathWorks family of products organization-wide, NAVAIR will be well positioned to support the needs of the fleet. "The MathWorks tools are used by leading organizations worldwide as a foundation for advanced research, data analysis, and the development of complex applications," said Richard Rovner, vice president of marketing at The MathWorks. "We enjoy a long-standing relationship with NAVAIR, and are committed to helping its engineers utilize the full capabilities of MATLAB and Simulink. NAVAIR's deployment of our tools reinforces the versatility and value our products deliver to engineers and scientists across multiple application areas within the aerospace and defense industry."
