Mercury Computer Systems Receives Order from InVision Technologies

CHELMSFORD, MA -- Mercury Computer Systems (NASDAQ: MRCY) announced today it has received an order from InVision Technologies (NASDAQ: INVN) to supply multicomputer systems for InVision's CTX 9000 DSi Explosives Detection Systems. The order is for Mercury RACE Series(TM) systems valued at approximately $1.3 million, to be delivered through November 2002. The CTX 9000 DSi system is the world's fastest FAA-certified explosives detection system according to InVision, and was designed from the ground up for integrated airport installations. The use of Mercury's computers in explosives detection systems parallels their use in another of Mercury's markets, medical imaging. In computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), digital signals stream continuously into Mercury's computers for processing into images that can be viewed. In the case of explosives detection, the embedded Mercury computers reconstruct cross-sectional images and display the computed densities of objects in baggage onto the operator's screen.
