Solarflare Signs Distribution Deal with EASTELE
Agreement enables 10 Gigabit Ethernet company to support technical development and sales in China:
Solarflare Communications today announced it has signed a value-added reseller (VAR) distribution agreement with EASTELE in Hong Kong and China. Under the terms of the deal, EASTELE will manage sales and technical support activity of Solarflare’s 10GBASE-T PHY and 10GbE controller products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) building next-generation, high-performance enterprise and data center solutions.
EASTELE is both a direct sell-through representative and a true VAR with over 100 employees providing engineering services, technical support and sales promotion to high-tech electronic manufacturing firms. Solarflare designs and develops the highest-performance, lowest-power 10GbE controllers and 10GBASE-T transceivers enabling data centers and enterprises to easily and cost-effectively upgrade their infrastructure.
Optimized for virtualized environments, the Solarflare Solarstorm 10 Gigabit Ethernet controller consumes less than 2 watts at full line-rate performance. Solarflare’s standards-compliant 10Xpress 10GBASE-T PHY supports 100-meter reach over copper Ethernet cabling and features triple-speed, auto-negotiation for 10GBASE-T, 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-TX at under 5 watts – half the power consumption of previous generation parts.
“The industry is beginning to experience mainstream adoption of 10GbE across networks worldwide. The most cost-effective, high-performance and power-efficient solutions are required to handle a growing number of users and bandwidth-intensive applications,” said Russ Krapf, vice president of sales and business development at Solarflare. “The new distribution deal with EASTELE allows us to expand our business across China and provide a higher-level of service to the Tier 1 networking OEMs located in that region.”
“We’re aiming to become the leading VAR in the electronic industry in China and this requires delivering the highest-performance solutions to meet our customers’ growing needs,” said Arthur Chau, president at EASTELE. “Solarflare’s 10GbE technology maintains our highest standards of technical innovation and we look forward to establishing a successful business relationship.”
