February CTWatch Quarterly guest-edited by NCSA

The February edition of CTWatch Quarterly was guest edited by Radha Nandkumar, leader of NCSA's campus and international relations division, and features a introduction, "International Cyberinfrastructure: Activities Around the Globe," authored by Nandkumar and NCSA Director Thom Dunning. The issue, titled "International Cyberinfrastructure: Activities Around the Globe," features articles from eight trend-setters. The articles describe: * The Australian Partnership for Advanced Computing's vision for providing advanced computing, information, and grid infrastructure. * Brazilian high-end computing and national networking infrastructures. * India's emerging nation-wide computational grid, "GARUDA." * Japan's Cyber Science Infrastructure and the nation's academic networking initiative. * South Korea's efforts in the construction and use of cyberinfrastructure. * Progress in establishing needs-based computational research and innovation in support of African development. * The Knowledge Innovation National Grid and the Advanced Research and Education Network, twin projects that form the core of Taiwan's cyberinfrastructure efforts. * PRAGMA, the Pacific Rim Applications and Grid Middleware Assembly. Enabling innovation and breakthrough science are common themes across all these efforts, and CTWatch Quarterly helps bring these themes, and their concrete implementations, into relief. CTWatch is a joint effort of the NSF-funded Cyberinfrastructure Partnership (CIP) between the San Diego Supercomputer Center and NCSA. It is published in collaboration with the Innovative Computing Laboratory at the University of Tennessee. It serves both as a forum for opinion and analysis on issues related to cyberinfrastructure generally, and as an ongoing news and information source concerning the latest innovations in cyberinfrastructure technology.
