Tungsten Graphics Introduces Personal Visualization Cluster at SC2004
Tungsten Graphics, inc., premiere provider of Graphics infrastructure software and services announced today, the introduction of the Tungsten Graphics Personal Visualization Cluster (PVC). Tungsten Graphics PVC - The Tungsten Graphics Personal Visualization Cluster (PVC) is based upon TG Chromium software. PVC provides an affordable Cluster Rendering and Visualization Solution, allowing for personal productivity gains throughout your organization. TG Chromium is configured, tested, tuned, supported, and delivered to customer system requirements including specific customer applications and datasets. All PVC Clusters include a Software License for TG Chromium. Tungsten Graphics PVC is being demonstrated at SC2004 running amira, a Mercury Computer Systems 3D data visualization application. Demonstrations with large datasets show the performance gains which can be achieved on a small PVC with an optimized graphics rendering pipeline versus a standard workstation. The PVC hardware being shown is a 5 node cluster of HP XW8000 Dual Xeon Workstations, connected with a Topspin Infiniband Switch. amira, as well as the Open Inventor from Mercury 3D graphics developers toolkit, are used extensively throughout various industries, including: Medical and Life Sciences, Aircraft and Aerospace, Scientific Visualization, Research and Education, and Oil, Gas, and Geosciences. “Increasingly, as datasets and visualization requirements outpace the capabilities of standard workstations, engineers and scientists are looking for more affordable and robust Cluster Visualization Solutions such as the Tungsten Graphics PVC”, says Mike Heck, CTO, 3DViz Group, Mercury Computer Systems. “We’re pleased to see Tungsten Graphics take a leading position with InfiniBand in the cluster rendering and visualization space.” said Ben Eiref, director, Topspin Communications. “Topspin’s InfiniBand interconnects have become a common building block for standards-based high performance clusters, delivering fifty percent or more performance boost at a comparable cost to traditional Ethernet.” Tungsten Graphics PVC is designed to support a host of commercial and home grown applications. Tungsten Graphics offers application porting and tuning, custom applications development, and support services. Services can range from software extensions to the base chromium to complete hardware / software solutions for specific graphic, performance, and display requirements.
