EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, today announced that the EMC CenteraTM content addressed storage (CAS) solution and the EMC Symmetrix DMXTM series of networked storage systems received Most Valuable Product awards at the 2004 Storage World Conference, an annual end-user event dedicated to the advancement of storage networking. EMC is the only company this year to receive two awards. As the leading storage platforms in their respective markets, Centera and Symmetrix DMX were selected by end users and industry analysts as MVP for their superior functionality, reliability, usability and proven results. Centera secured top honors in the newly created "Compliance And Retention" category, while Symmetrix DMX garnered the MVP award in the "Disk Subsystem" category. "Storage World's annual MVP awards recognize the 'best of the best' of storage networking products in the industry," said Daniel Delshad, Conference Chairman. "The response from our end user voters was tremendously strong for both EMC Centera and EMC Symmetrix DMX. It's a clear indication that customers recognize the value of EMC's industry-leading tiered storage platforms as the foundation for an information lifecycle management strategy." "We're honored to receive two Most Valuable Product awards that together highlight our unparalleled breadth of product leadership," said Howard Elias, EMC's Executive Vice President of Corporate Marketing, Office of Technology. "The awards speak volumes because they represent the collective voice of storage networking users and acknowledge EMC's commitment to provide customers with the most functional tiered storage platforms required to implement a full information lifecycle management solution." Centera is the first storage solution designed from the ground up to solve all enterprise archiving challenges associated with managing and storing unchanging data such as document images, e-mail, x-rays and medical records. The CAS solution has earned industry-wide recognition as an enterprise online archival storage medium capable of guaranteeing content authenticity for data from multiple applications and scaling to hundreds of terabytes without requiring additional management overhead. Centera Compliance Edition provides the next generation in secure, online storage optimized for long-term retention and instant retrieval of regulated digital assets. It enables compliance with a wide range of the most stringent records regulations and standards, including HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and DoD 5015.2. Representing the most significant advancement for high-end storage customers in more than a decade, Symmetrix DMX has been widely recognized as the industry standard for high-end networked storage. Its revolutionary Direct Matrix Architecture set a new trajectory for scalability, functionality, performance, availability and affordability while maintaining compatibility and functional integration with prior-generation Symmetrix systems. In addition, the EMC LEGATO NetWorker information protection software was named a finalist in the "Data Protection Software" category.
