Etnus TotalView Release Supports New Compilers and Platforms

Etnus, provider of the most advanced debugger on UNIX and Linux, today announced availability of Etnus TotalView version 6.3.1. This new release includes support for Linux on AMD's Opteron computing systems, HP-UX on Intel Itanium-based systems, and the Absoft Fortran 95 version 8.2 compiler. In addition, TotalView now supports Red Hat 9.0, Advanced Server 3.0, and SuSE Enterprise Server 8. TotalView is an advanced 32- and 64-bit graphical debugger providing software engineers with complete control over threaded and parallel applications written in C, C++ or Fortran. It offers the developer unrivaled ability to debug applications that use multithreading, MPI and OpenMP. Advanced features, such as heap allocation debugging, data analysis, and STLView for easy reading of standard template library data, provide unique capabilities to find and eliminate problems in complex applications. In addition to support for the Red Hat 9.0 and Advanced Server 3 distributions, TotalView also now supports the Native Posix Threads Library (NPTL). NPTL is the latest advancement for threads support on Linux. By supporting this new library, Etnus gives its customers state-of-the-art functionality to isolate bugs in complex code and extends its leadership position in threads debugging Support for many current third party compilers is among Etnus TotalView's advantages over other debuggers. TotalView 6.3.1 introduces support for Absoft Fortran 95 version 8.2. This Absoft compiler supports all popular legacy language extensions and is particularly well suited for rehosting existing applications into cost effective distributed environments. "TotalView is a powerful addition to the Absoft Fortran 95 development toolset," remarked Wood Lotz, President of Absoft. "Both products are able to support all types of parallel programming models. TotalView is a powerful tool and can simplify the complex process of isolating bugs in this complex code." "This new functionality and support extends Etnus' leadership position as the premium debugger available in the market today," commented Rich Collier, Vice President of Engineering, Etnus. "There just isn't another debugger that supports the hardware, operating system, and compiler matrix that we do."
