The 13th Heterogeneous Computing Workshop (HCW 2004) will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, on April 26, 2004, in conjunction with the International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS). HCW'2004 is sponsored by the U.S. Office of Naval Research, by INRIA, and by the IEEE Computer Society, through the Technical Committee on Parallel Processing. =============================== HCW 2004 CALL FOR PARTICIPATION =============================== Heterogeneous computing systems are those with a range of diverse computing resources that can be local to one another or geographically distributed. The pervasive use of networks and the Internet by all segments of modern society means that the number of connected computing resources is growing tremendously. Hence,> the opportunity and need for heterogeneous computing systems to effectively utilize these resources in new, novel ways is growing concomitantly. This has given rise, for instance, to the notions of grid computing and peer-to-peer computing. The effective implementation of efficient applications in these environments, however, requires that a host of issues be addressed that simply do not occur in "single-chassis" sequential or parallel machines. Thus, the topics of interest concerning heterogeneous systems and environments include, but are not limited to: programming paradigms and tools, resource discovery and management, task and communication scheduling, task coordination and workflow, performance management, heterogeneous cluster computing, grid computing, peer-to-peer computing, adaptive computing, ubiquitous computing, mobile computing, real-time distributed systems, security, fault tolerance, and application case studies. The workshop plans to publish the proceedings through the IEEE Computer Society Press as part of the IPDPS CD-ROM. ========================== HCW 2004 - IMPORTANT DATES ========================== Oct. 24, 2003: Manuscript Submission Deadline Dec. 19, 2003: Acceptance Notification Jan. 23, 2004: Camera-Ready Copy Due Apr. 26, 2004: Workshop ============================ HCW 2004 - SUBMITTING PAPERS ============================ HCW 2004 invites authors to submit summaries of original and unpublished work in all areas of heterogeneous computing. All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee. Summaries should not exceed five (5) single-spaced pages of text using 12 point size type on 8.5 x 11 inch pages. References, figures, tables, etc. may be included in addition to the five pages of text. The summary should include an abstract of approximately 100 words. Authors should submit a PostScript (level 2), PDF, or Word file that will print on a PostScript printer. Electronic submission through the HCW 2004 web site: http://graal.ens-lyon.fr/hcw2004, is strongly encouraged. Email or hard copy submission will only be accepted if web submission is not possible, and only after prior arrangement with the Program Chair.
