MILPITAS, Calif.-- LSI Logic Storage Systems, a leader in delivering technology that enables high performance, highly scalable storage for the open enterprise, and StorageTek (NYSE:STK) , the storage services and solutions expert, announced today that BBC Worldwide, the commercial consumer arm of the BBC, has selected their storage solution to enable a fully scalable and centralized storage environment using a storage area network (SAN). It is also using jointly marketed technology from the two suppliers to improve disaster recovery systems and resolve issues with its backup processes. "During one of our technology audits, I discovered how much we were already using LSI Logic Storage technology at BBC Worldwide. This solution enables us to leverage what we have in place already. BBC Worldwide supplies international program distribution, TV channels, magazines, books, videos, audio and visual education tools, exhibitions and other services related to media production and distribution. The solution from LSI Logic Storage Systems and StorageTek is providing leading SAN technology that has enabled the company's in-house IT department to consolidate its server environment, improve back up performance and support Windows 2000 and HP-UX environments. LSI Logic Storage Systems and StorageTek offered the best-fit solution with the cost justification the customer demanded. With four terabytes of data stored on the system, the company is benefiting from improved performance on the SAN implemented by LSI Logic Storage Systems and StorageTek. At the same time, the IT department is using SANtricity Storage Manager's snapshot feature to reduce disaster recovery times and control backup processes, leading to time and cost savings.
