EI Releases Paralab, The First Parallel Mathematics Environment
FORT COLLINS, Colorado -- Engineered Intelligence Corporation (EI) today released Paralab, an interactive mathematical prototyping and simulation environment to create parallel algorithms. Paralab - Parallel Laboratory - is designed for technical professionals in engineering and science who find that most available mathematics software lacks adequate performance and the ability to harness the power of parallel computers and clusters. “While general-purpose languages such as C, C++ and FORTRAN provide performance, they don’t enable users to easily prototype ideas, compare alternatives and develop large-scale algorithms and applications,” said EI’s CEO, Matt Oberdorfer. “Paralab offers a simpler alternative to speed up algorithms by factor of 10 times, or even 100 times, and cut development time significantly. Using Paralab, companies can double their research productivity, since scientists can prototype algorithms and do not need an expert to run them on bigger, high-performance computers in parallel.” Paralab includes a Just-In-Time-Interpreter (JITI) for the parallel language CxC and allows reusing functions and libraries that have been developed in C, C++ or FORTRAN, as well as other mathematics programs. With many libraries like BLAS and LAPACK included, Paralab allows you to access mathematics and engineering functions for numeric computation, modeling and simulation. Paralab is an intuitive, comprehensive parallel language that combines multiple tools into a single interactive environment. “Paralab is designed for a new breed of inventors. There is no need to learn complex parallel programming paradigms to get the job done” reports Jim Gutowski, EI’s Marketing Manager. “Engineers and Scientists who invent new algorithms and applications can use Paralab for prototyping, and then use EI’s CxC product family to compile and run the same program effectively on high-performance supercomputers and clusters. Paralab’s intuitive prototyping capabilities were designed to decrease time and cost to invention and allow scientists to focus on their primary science, not on computer science.” U.S Pricing and Availability
Paralab is currently available from EI and through selected resellers with prices starting at $75 for a single-user system. Supported platforms are Linux 32-bit, 64-bit, Windows, HP-UX, SGI IRIX and other selected platforms.
