Egenera Inc. to Speak and Exhibit at LinuxWorld

MARLBORO, Mass.--Egenera Inc., the leader in next-generation datacenter infrastructure, announced today that it will demonstrate the award-winning Egenera(TM) BladeFrame(TM) system and its Processing Area Network (PAN) architecture in booth No. 239 at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, being held at The Javits Center, New York, N.Y., from January 22 - 24, 2003. Egenera is leading a revolution in enterprise-class computing by enabling datacenters to run any application, on any resource, at any time. The unique BladeFrame architecture completely disaggregates processing, storage and networking into asset pools that come together as needed to support a service, then disband. Powerful software allocates resources based on business rules. A live BladeFrame demonstration will showcase these unique virtualization capabilities by automatically repurposing nodes across multiple services based on application loads and failover requirements. In conjunction with its presence on the LinuxWorld show floor, Egenera is co-sponsoring the Linux Financial Summit, an executive-level program created to address the growing demand for quality information and insight on Linux(R) and Open Source solutions for the financial-services industry. Egenera founder and chief technology officer, Vern Brownell, will present a Linux Financial Summit session--"Delivering the Vision: The Impact of Next-generation Linux Computing on Wall Street Datacenter ROI"--on January 22 at 9:00 a.m. Attendees will learn how resource virtualization and breakthrough processing architectures, including server blades, are enabling Wall Street firms to optimize application availability, drive market agility and lower datacenter total cost of ownership by 50 percent and more. IDG World Expo, the producer of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, invited Brownell to participate based on his extensive end-user experience as the former CTO of Goldman Sachs and on the prevalence of Egenera solutions in the Wall Street datacenter market. In addition, Egenera's vice president of software engineering, Pete Manca, will present "Leveraging Virtualization to Improve Cluster Implementations" in the Developer Issues track of the LinuxWorld conference program on January 23 at 4:00 p.m. Aimed at IT professionals supporting mission-critical applications, this session will describe a virtual approach to clustering that both simplifies management and lowers costs. Manca has nearly 20 years' experience in the design and development of system software including work with open standards, operating systems and large-scale architectures.
