FCIA proves FCoE stability in vendor interoperable testing

Leading Fibre Channel vendors participate in FCIA sponsored FCoE Plugfest at UNH-IOL: The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA), a non-profit international organization of manufacturers, systems integrators and vendors, today announced that it successfully completed its FCoE Plugfest the week of September 15th at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab (UNH-IOL). Industry leading Fibre Channel vendors collaborated to ensure interoperability for upcoming Fibre Channel Over Ethernet (FCoE) products and solutions. Sponsored by the FCIA, the Plugfest was open to all Fibre Channel vendors and provided a forum for testing interoperability between different vendor's FCoE products. Participating companies included Absolute Analysis, Amphenol, Brocade, Cisco Systems, Emulex, Finisar Corp, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel Corp, LSI, Mellanox Technologies, Molex, NetApp, QLogic Corporation, and Spirent Communications. "The FCoE Plugfest proved to be successful with all of the FCoE initiators being able to communicate across the FCoE fabrics of multiple participating companies to both FCoE and Fibre Channel targets. Fibre Channel vendors had an opportunity to explore and achieve interoperability across many different configurations. Today, the industry is well on its way to stable multi-vendor interoperable FCoE-based solutions," said Bill Martin, FCoE Plugfest Chair. "It was rewarding to see industry leading Fibre Channel vendors come together to test their FCoE products under the FCIA sponsored Plugfest," said Skip Jones, chairman FCIA. "The participation of these companies underscores the significant commitment and strong momentum leading to the rapid deployment of FCoE products and solutions." Member companies are in product development and gearing to deliver FCoE solutions over the coming months.
