Call for Participation: IEEE 2008 eScience Conference

Organizing committees for the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing 2008 eScience Conference are now accepting papers and proposals for tutorials; posters, exhibits, and demos; and workshops and special sessions. The 2008 eScience Conference is being hosted by Indiana University and will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, December 7-12, 2008 at the University Place Conference Center and Hotel on the campus of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The event is being held in partnership with the Microsoft Research eScience Workshop and is sponsored by Pervasive Technology Labs at Indiana University and the IU School of Informatics. The eScience 2008 conference will bring together leading international and interdisciplinary research communities, developers and users of eScience applications and enabling information technologies. eScience refers to science and scientific research that requires intensive distributed or grid computing power. Topics of Interest Topics for proposed papers and sessions should be related to e-Science, grid and cloud computing. These include but are not limited to the following: Enabling technologies: internet and Web services Collaborative science models and techniques Service-oriented grid architectures Problem solving environments Application development environments Programming paradigms and models Resource management and scheduling Grid economy and business models Autonomic, real-time, and self-organizing grids Virtual instruments and data access management Sensor networks and environmental observatories Security challenges for grids and eScience eScience applications including physics, biology, chemistry, astronomy, finance, engineering and the humanities. Web 2.0 technology and services for eScience Submission deadlines Papers and proposals for tutorials are due July 20, 2008. The deadline for proposals for posters, exhibits and demos is September 14, 2008. The submission window for workshops and special sessions is May 16-June 20, 2008 with initial feedback beginning on May 23. Financial Assistance Financial assistance for the eScience conference will be made available to a limited number of attendees through the conference Education, Diversity, and Broadening Participation program.
