Platform Computing today announced that is has officially joined the Cognos Technology Partner Program. Platform participated in the recent Cognos Forum 2005, where it successfully demonstrated how its Platform Enterprise Grid Orchestrator (EGO) technology delivers added benefits to Cognos' customers when coupled with Cognos ReportNet, Cognos' market-leading Web-based business reporting solution. These benefits include the optimization of computing resources and a reduction in overall total cost of ownership for IT investments. Cognos Forum, which featured three days of case study presentations, technical "how-to's", "hands-on" lab sessions, and keynote sessions on the future of BI, is the largest event of its kind for Cognos' customer base, drawing over 2,000 attendees. In becoming a member of the Cognos Technology Partner Program, Platform joins an impressive list of software and platform vendors who offer technology that complements the Cognos solutions portfolio. "Grid computing is the future of enterprise computing, helping organizations more cost-effectively use limited computer resources to solve problems that traditionally would have required an enormous amount of computing power," said Don Campbell, Vice President, Product Innovation and Technology, Cognos. "Through this partnership, Cognos customers will be able to capitalize on next-generation BI products that help manage ever-growing volumes of data, shrinking batch windows, and the demand for increasingly more detailed reports." "Our position within the grid computing industry has always been one of a pioneer and an innovator," said Chris Purpura, Vice President, Alliances and New Ventures, Platform Computing. "This includes not only product development, but in developing our technology and market vision and seeking the partners to execute that vision. Cognos, as a leader in corporate performance management, gives us a partner who will allow us to integrate Platform EGO technology into their BI applications, and reach a wider audience of customers looking to improve performance and optimize their IT investments."
