Silicon Graphics, and Landmark, a part of Halliburton's Digital and Consulting Solutions division, today announced that Landmark will serve as a principal channel for SGI energy market solutions throughout Latin America. The alliance addresses a unique opportunity in Latin America, one of the world's fastest-growing energy production markets. Under terms of a preferred partner alliance announced today, Landmark will be a primary customer touch point for both companies' oil and gas sales in Latin America. The agreement, which is effective immediately, builds on the two companies' long history of jointly delivering advanced interactive visualization solutions for seismic, drilling and reservoir analysis. As part of the agreement, SGI will transfer technical resources and expertise to Landmark's Latin American operations to provide continuity and capability for customers needs. "Over the years, SGI and Landmark have developed a powerful synergy between their technologies and products, one that has driven key customer relationships within energy markets the world over," said Bob Bishop, chairman and CEO, SGI. "Working together to address the soaring needs of energy companies, we have jointly created solutions that play to our core strengths. With this new relationship, our clients can expect even stronger synergies in products and services that boost productivity and keep exploration costs down." "To help sustain the world's energy needs, Latin America's leading oil and gas companies must continually find solutions whose capabilities expand with the demands of the task at hand," said Peter Bernard, president, Landmark Graphics. "Today and in the future, successful solutions must incorporate everything in the reservoir discovery and production workflow -- from computing complex seismic imagery, massive subsurface reservoir simulations and visualizing the results to managing multiple terabytes of data that this work generates. Our expanded relationship with SGI will help make it easier than ever for energy customers to cost-effectively and efficiently achieve that level of capability when they need it."
