SALT LAKE CITY-- Linux Networx announced today the availability of an Evolocity(R) II cluster system optimized with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software from Fluent(R) Inc., the market leaders in CFD. Linux Networx and Fluent formed a strategic partnership to design the pre-integrated cluster system, offering customers a significant decrease in CFD simulation time. Fluent gave the solution added endorsement by installing a cluster system in their Remote Simulation Facility (RSF), which provides customers with access to supercomputing power remotely. The Evolocity cluster is available to customers who desire a system pre-integrated with Fluent software, ideal for fast and accurate CFD simulations. The system includes Linux Networx Evolocity compute nodes, and Clusterworx(R) and ICE Box(TM) to simplify cluster management. Fluent purchased a Linux Networx cluster to power the RSF, allowing existing Fluent customers to take advantage of supercomputing capacity for time critical or complex CFD simulations through a highly secure Internet portal. Fluent simulation software is used in industries ranging from aerospace and automotive design to oil and gas exploration and electronics packaging. "The level of refinement in the Linux Networx solution was simply remarkable, from the design of the Evolocity II rack to the Clusterworx software to manage the entire cluster," said Earl Zmijewski, Ph.D., director of computer services for Fluent. "We were very impressed and recommend Linux Networx to our customers without any reservations." Linux clustering is a method of linking multiple computers together to form a unified and more powerful system. Linux Networx recently shipped an 11.2 teraflops cluster, which currently ranks as the world's fastest Linux supercomputer, and the third fastest supercomputer in the world (www.top500.org). "The Evolocity Fluent cluster system gives customers shorter design cycles, helping products get to market faster while saving money," said Eric Pitcher, vice president of product marketing, government, industrial and life sciences for Linux Networx. "Linux Networx worked with Fluent to design a system to improve speed and accuracy of CFD simulations."
