Two engineers with Mechdyne's Research and Development team are serving as volunteer educators for InfoComm 2012, being held June 9-15 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Michael Pedersen, Senior Staff Engineer is presenting a session entitled "Performing and Documenting Component Evaluation" as part of "InfoComm University." Kurt Hoffmeister, Vice President Research and Development is leading a session entitled "Deploying 3D Displays Using Touch, Gesture and Motion Tracking Technologies," as part of "3D Comm Seminars."
Pedersen, one of 89 individuals worldwide who is both a Certified Technology Specialist for Design (CTS-D) and a Certified Technology Specialist for Installation (CTS-I), will cover the importance of evaluating products prior to integrating them into a design. He will also discuss what types of products should be evaluated, individual characteristics that should be evaluated, how to structure a formal evaluation, as well as how to perform the evaluation, record results and prepare a written report. Pedersen's presentation is scheduled to take place on June 13th from 12:30-2:00 p.m. as part of "InfoComm University."
Hoffmeister will focus on how display system integrators should strive to understand users' workflow and software applications so that appropriate integration paradigms and workflow efficiencies can be offered. He will also cover the importance of testing interaction technologies concurrently to verify that all components and software will integrate effectively. Hoffmeister's presentation is scheduled to take place on June 14th at 8:00 a.m., as part of Insight Media's "3D Comm Seminars" for AV professionals.
Pedersen has eighteen years of engineering experience, including fifteen years in audiovisual and advanced visualization. During his tenure with Mechdyne Corporation, Pedersen has been integral in the design process for a wide range of Mechdyne solutions. He currently focuses on research and development and quality control, and serves as an internal consultant and trainer for advanced audiovisual designs.
In addition to his dual CTS certifications, Pedersen is a member of Syn-Aud-Con, a peer group of world-class professionals in audio systems design and integration. He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) where he has served as the Vice Chair and Chair of the Central Iowa Section. Pedersen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University.
Hoffmeister serves as Vice President of Research and Development for Mechdyne Corporation, since co-founding the company in 1996. He is a recognized pioneer and worldwide expert in large-screen virtual reality and simulation system design, installation, and integration. A licensed professional engineer with several patents, he earned a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University. Hoffmeister's responsibilities include the innovation, evaluation and implementation of the broad range of technology solutions offered by Mechdyne.
