Qualified candidates are invited to apply for postdoctoral and graduate research fellowships at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Fellows will draw upon the expertise and facilities of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) to apply high-performance and/or data-intensive computational science and technology to research related to the activities of the Cyprus Institute (CyI) in areas including climate and environmental modeling, fluid dynamics and heat transfer, high-energy and plasma physics, digital cultural heritage/archeology, materials science, 3D visualization, high-energy physics, and solar energy concentration and storage.
Fellows will have access to NCSA's advanced computing, data, and visualization resources at Illinois and at the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) in Cyprus and will collaborate closely with NCSA staff mentors.
The graduate research fellowships will be provided through Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs) and will include full tuition waivers.
The graduate and post-doc fellowships are supported through the CyI/Illinois Collaboration and Research Agreement. Illinois and the Cyprus Institute have been collaborating for several years on activities in high-performance computing, digital cultural heritage, and other areas.
