The MSRC program is located within the NAVOCEANO facilities at the John C. Stennis Space Center, MS, and operates as a DOD shared HPC resource. The MSRC Staff provides expertise in computer center operations, general and CTA-specific computational science, scientific visualization, networking, and related fields. Lockheed Martin Corporation operates the MSRC. We currently have these featured openings: Req ID: 9457BR Industry Job Title: Systems Administrator Staff # Openings: 3 Required skills: Min. 9 years exp. w/ Solaris, Solaris 9/10, Large Sun systems (i.e. F15K), scripting languages Desired skills: Kerberos, Secure Shell, SAN, SAM-QFS, NetBackup Specific Job Description: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college in a Computer Science or information systems related discipline with 9 years of High Performance Computing Sun Solaris-based UNIX systems administration experience. Comprehensive knowledge of Sun Enterprise F12000/F15000 series Sun systems in enterprise networked management software installation, customization and system network connectivity (GigE, trunking, etc.) is required. Some experience with system security (Kerberos, SSH, TCP Wrapper,etc.) is also required. Candidate must have significant Solaris systems administration experience as well as a working knowledge of all aspects of maintaining a heterogeneous computing environment and a thorough knowledge of Sun Enterprise system administration tools. Experience with large,multi-domain servers in a data management environment is preferred .Candidate must also have a good working knowledge of network principals, system troubleshooting techniques, and the overall system life cycle operating system administration. Must also possess 5 years of demonstrated experience with scripting languages and debugging skills with UNIX Shell scripts. Must have demonstrated expertise in Information Technology-Systems Administration, Operating System administration and their infrastructure: networking, systems security, storage technology and retrieval systems. Excellent customer/user interaction skills will be necessary to successfully address the assignments for this position. Candidate must be team oriented and capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic, demanding environment and must be a self-starter, able to plan, schedule and coordinate assignments with other team members. Responsibilities for this position are: Provide for Sun Solaris systems administration, performance tuning, client security administration, systems software support, and technology assessments in support of a multi-platform (Solaris and AIX) UNIX environment. Will function as Sun systems administrator, responsible for systems enhancement, configuration, maintenance, installation, interfaces, coordination, and software installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and layered software packages. In addition, monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum level of performance in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Performs acceptance testing of modules, subsystems, and total systems. Will be responsible to perform software installation and configuration. Reports to the Lead Systems Administrator.
