Founder Ed King to remain as Chairman of the Board and Fellow: CPU Technology, Inc. (CPU Tech) announced today the appointment of Silicon Valley veteran Clay Johnson as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. Johnson comes most recently from Xilinx as Vice President and General Manager of the General Products Division and brings with him more than 25 years experience in driving substantial market growth in software tool and semiconductor companies within the private and public sectors. His career spans positions in engineering, marketing and sales, to general management of $500M business units. Johnson is joining CPU Tech at a time when the company is moving into a high growth mode fueled by a substantial backlog of revenue from its service and modernization business. In addition, the company's newest product lines -- its SystemLab PS real-time simulation, validation, and visualization tools and Acalis field programmable multi-core products -- are already being well received by customers in both the defense and commercial worlds. Johnson will be responsible for corporate strategy and day-to-day operations as the company aims to establish itself as a dominant force in these new market segments. "The company's search focused on finding that unique individual with a shared passion for CPU Tech's vision, as well as the proven capability to build and run a market-leading organization," said Ed King, founder, Chairman of the Board and former CEO. "Clay stood out among an extensive pool of accomplished, top-tier candidates from the high tech industry. What most impressed us was Clay's strong desire to take on a large challenge -- one that, if met, would result in a monumental shift in the way things are currently done in our industry." "There is a tremendously exciting and substantial base of ground-breaking technology here with the potential to fundamentally change the process of system development within many industries," said Clay Johnson. "I welcome the chance to help CPU Tech continue its strong market and capital growth while rising to the next level of industry leadership." Ed King will remain active with the company as the Chairman of the Board and Corporate Fellow. Mr. King will lead an advanced engineering team to drive next generation hardware and software technology into the company and its products.
