Dassault Systèmes announced today a development partnership with Platform Computing, a world leader in grid computing software. Platform has joined Dassault Systèmes’ Software Community Program as a CAA V5 Software Partner and will develop, market, and sell grid computing solutions based on the Dassault Systèmes Component Application Architecture (CAA V5). Through this partnership, Platform will grid-enable new and existing V5 PLM solutions that can improve their processing performance by distributing the workload over multiple CPUs either on dedicated servers or a clustered grid comprised of workstations. A customized version of Platform’s flagship product, Platform LSF, will allow V5 users to schedule and distribute computationally intense PLM operations throughout a grid-enabled enterprise all from within the standard CATIA V5 environment. Dassault Systèmes’ V5 Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) simulation solutions deliver a unique set of knowledge-based simulation tools, embedded within an intuitive and user-friendly collaborative environment that supports fast design-to-analysis iterations. ENOVIA DMU Solutions enable people involved in engineering and process decisions to perform collaborative and immersive visualization, navigation, review, analysis and simulation of all complexities of digital mockups and technical data. As a result of this partnership, Platform’s grid software technologies will be tightly integrated with the V5 PLM processing backbone. This integration will optimize all resource-demanding and batch processes like simulation solver computation, digital mock-up and assembly, data conversion, or printing. Platform LSF accelerates Dassault Systèmes’ PLM solutions’ capabilities to address the computing infrastructure challenges facing Electrical & Electronics (E&E), Aerospace, and Automotive customers. Initial product plans include Platform LSF for V5 PLM, a CAA V5-based workload management solution. “We experienced significant performance improvement in our DMU clash processes on a complete vehicle test, with the coupling of LSF grid computing and V5 PLM solutions,” said Dr. Heinz Mayer, head of Engineering Information Systems for Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik AG & CoKG. “We are delighted with this partnership, which will strengthen the integration and provide a more robust environment.” "This partnership will enable our customers in all industries to optimize their V5 PLM deployment and better leverage and monitor their hardware assets," said Florence Hu-Aubigny, R&D director, V5 PLM Architecture, Dassault Systèmes. “It will benefit not only the entire V5 PLM portfolio but also the CAA V5 Partner extended portfolio to drive complete V5 PLM resources optimization”. “Platform is the recognized leader in grid computing, with a strong commitment to deploying its workload management solutions throughout the computing infrastructure of industrial manufacturing organizations,” said Dr. Songnian Zhou, CEO and co-founder of Platform Computing. “Users of Dassault Systèmes PLM solutions and of Platform LSF for V5 PLM will benefit from combining the best-available PLM solutions with the best-available technology for grid computing. This will provide customers with the ability to accelerate their computationally intensive PLM processes by using their existing computing infrastructure to its fullest capacity.”
