Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation, a leader in enterprise storage ICs, today announced its participation in the SCSI Trade Association (STA) Serial Attached SCSI Plugfest at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory, November 1-5, 2004. Supporting the industry's need for multi-vendor interoperability within a SAS infrastructure, Vitesse will conduct interoperability tests and demonstrations with its NexSAS product family, the broadest line of expander products available today. Specifically, Vitesse will test the VSC7150 and VSC7160, 12-port server-series expanders, as well as its high-density VSC7153 and VSC7154 enclosure series expanders. "With two plugfests successfully completed, we are looking forward to the third event where many companies will be preparing their production-ready designs for testing," said Marty Czekalski, vice president of the STA Board of Directors and interface architecture initiatives manager at Maxtor Corporation. "These plugfests play a vital role in developing robust and interoperable products and solutions that will enable SAS to gain wide industry adoption." "Vitesse is committed to delivering Systems OEMs high-performing, standards-compliant, feature-rich solutions for storage systems -- without technology bias today," said Sam Barnett, product line manager for Serial Attached SCSI products at Vitesse. "This interoperability event marks the next step for broad acceptance of both SAS and SATA as the evolutionary replacements for parallel-interface technology in enterprise storage solutions." Through an innovative combination of high-speed serial link technology, exceptional I/O, and a robust enclosure management offering, all products in the NexSAS family deliver significant cost and performance advantages to OEMs.
