Woven Systems today advanced its industry-leading price/performance in data center networking with the introduction of the TRX 200, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) top-of-rack switch. The 24-port TRX 200 joins Woven’s TRX 100, a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with four 10 GE uplinks, giving customers greater flexibility in configuring either non-blocking or oversubscribed data center networks. The TRX 200 sets a new price/performance standard at less than $500 per 10 GE port that will dramatically accelerate the adoption of 10 GE technology in the fast-growing data center market. Working in conjunction with Woven’s flagship EFX 1000 10 Gigabit Ethernet Fabric Switch, the TRX 200 reduces overall data center deployment costs while preserving key Woven innovations, including Dynamic Congestion Avoidance in a resilient and scalable multipath fabric that affords ultra-low latency. The TRX 200 switch is a single rack unit high with 24 SFP+ 10 GE ports that can also function as 1 GE ports, making it ideal for top-of-rack deployments aggregating 1 or 10 GE servers. The TRX 200 also includes four 10/100/1000 switched Ethernet ports, along with two additional Ethernet management ports and a single console port. Management options include Web browser, Telnet remote log-in, a command line interface (CLI) and SNMPv3. High availability features include field-swappable redundant AC or DC power supplies, and a field-replaceable fan tray. In addition to wirespeed performance, customers have the flexibility to choose various oversubscription levels with each switch for both GE and 10 GE servers. Link aggregation on the TRX 200 supports up to six trunk groups with up to eight ports per trunk giving customers maximum flexibility in meeting their data center deployment needs. “Woven is already seeing an increase in the use of 10 Gig Ethernet servers, and we anticipate the market’s demand for continued cost reductions through consolidation and virtualization will drive significant growth in 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching solutions,” says Joe Ammirato, Woven’s vice president of marketing. “Our purpose-built data center Ethernet fabric solution enables Woven to deliver quadruple the performance at a quarter of the price, and the TRX 200 extends our price/performance leadership to the top of the rack, enabling customers to take full advantage of 10 Gig Ethernet in the data center.” Pricing and Availability The TRX 200 sets a new standard for 10 GE price/performance with its U.S. list price of $11,995, or less than $500 per SFP+ port, and is available immediately.
