Alun Baker joins DataSynapse as the new senior vice president and managing director for EMEA. Baker will leverage his extensive experience in enterprise application software to drive the adoption of DataSynapse’s GridServer® and FabricServer™ application virtualization software products. Baker brings to DataSynapse more than 10 years senior management experience in enterprise application software and is credited for his role in transforming numerous technology companies into globally recognized, successful businesses. Prior to this appointment, Baker was vice president for Northwest Europe at Lawson Software and before that, senior vice president for EMEA at Sonic Software. He has also held senior management roles at TIBCO and Oracle. In addition, Baker held the role of non-executive chairman of the infrastructure consultancy, Company-I, for the last five years through to January 2007, when he led its successful sale to Symantec. “With a relentless drive for greater business agility, CIOs are under unprecedented pressure to get more from their computing resources,” said Baker. “By enabling an enterprise to decouple its applications from dedicated resources and aggregate its server capacity so that resources can be shared, providing applications with power ‘on demand,’ DataSynapse can quickly deliver ROI in the form of better application performance, improved delivery of service level agreements (SLAs) and, ultimately, preservation of capital.” Willy Ross, who launched DataSynapse’s operations in EMEA in 2002, takes on the newly created role of senior vice president. In this role, Ross will oversee strategic initiatives to support the company’s expansion. Commenting on the management changes, Ross said: “We are experiencing enormous demand for our virtualization technology in both the financial services sector and beyond. Expanding our senior management team strengthens our ability to meet and service this demand as it continues to intensify across the globe.” Fred Gedling, EMEA chief technology officer, also takes on additional responsibilities, as senior vice president of global services. With a growing number of international enterprises amongst its customer base, DataSynapse has established a global services team, which will focus on ensuring world-class delivery of global professional services and support. Gedling will lead this team. DataSynapse decouples applications from dedicated data center infrastructure, aggregating server capacity into a resource pool that can be adaptively allocated based on application demand, schedule or priority. By matching available supply with application demand, companies gain control of complex application workloads and services, enabling service level automation and improvement of application performance in real time. Only DataSynapse allows companies to adaptively command and control complex enterprise application workloads and services for virtually any application.
