ISC '07, Europe's premier high performance computing event, will take place June 26 - 29 at the Congress Center in Dresden under the theme "Exploring the Frontiers of Supercomputing." New to the conference itinerary in 2007 are Automotive Session and Scientific Day, which will both take place on Tuesday, June 26. Automotive Session will focus on the role of HPC in a wide range of automotive production processes, including computer-aided vehicle design, crash simulation, component fatigue analysis and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses. Scientific Day will give engineers and scientists the opportunity to present and discuss issues, trends and results that are poised to shape the future of high performance computing and networking. "ISC is constantly looking at ways to enhance the conference experience for attendees and these two pre-conference events will give them the chance to focus in great detail on specific issues of interest," said Conference Chair Prof. Hans Werner Meuer of the University of Mannheim. "We believe Scientific Day will launch some very interesting research discussions and that Automotive Session will give automotive engineers and other interested attendees a look at cutting-edge applications of HPC in industry." Automotive Session will focus on existing applications and trends as well as future challenges and opportunities in automotive engineering. It will include presentations from automotive companies, such as BMW and Porsche, as well as hardware and software vendors and high performance computing centers. Topics to be covered include the impact of virtual reality on the automotive industry, HPC's role in developing aerodynamic vehicles, virtual testing of prototypes, using HPC to accelerate model based design, simulations of car design and virtual test benching. A Swiss team that develops Formula One racecars will discuss how supercomputing is used to develop some of the world's fastest cars. Scientific Day attendees will learn about new research and accomplishments capability computing, large-scale modeling and simulation, data-intensive and I/O computing, computing architectures, scalable performance analysis tools, large-scale, grid-enabled systems and more. Many papers will be presented and the ISC Award Committee will choose two papers to receive the ISC Award and special prizes. * Advance Registration Open Through May 26* Online advance registration for ISC '07 is available at
its Web site. Attendees will receive a reduced rate if they register by Saturday, May 26. More information on the conference program, Automotive Session and Scientific Day pre-conference programs, housing and other ISC '07 events is available at
